Get to know your Professional School Counselor
Shamika Spikes-Hooker is a 1995 graduate of DeRidder High and earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from Grambling State University. Upon graduation, she began teaching 4th grade students at Pinewood Elementary. After earning her M.Ed. in school counseling from McNeese State University, she became a school counselor at DeRidder Junior High and then transferred to DeRidder High. Shamika pursued her +30 graduate hours at Northwestern State University in Educational Technology. She enjoys both teaching and counseling and teaches the McNeese dual enrollment Psychology 101 course at DHS.
