Beta

Welcome to DHS Beta Club!

2022 – 2023

National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America.

For more than 80 years, Beta has prepared today's students to be tomorrow's leaders.

MISSION STATEMENT

To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character,
service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

ACHIEVEMENT - Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement
CHARACTER - Preparing young people for life and empowering them to be successful
LEADERSHIP - Developing the leaders of tomorrow
SERVICE - Demonstrating our motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others

Beta Club strives to be of service to the community through service opportunities. Examples of these service opportunities include, but are not limited to the following; visiting elderly citizens in nursing homes, volunteering at shelters, and participating in local community service activities. All service opportunities must be preapproved by Beta Sponsors before a student participates in order to receive service credit. Each student is responsible for obtaining 10 credit hours per school year.

Beta Convention:

Beta holds annual state conventions each year.  Winners of these state events go on to compete on a national level. Convention activities range from academic contests to quiz bowls to talent competitions. Conventions give members the opportunity to interact with other club members, share project ideas, and showcase their academic and leadership abilities. Financial responsibility for convention may be partially offset by club fundraising opportunities held throughout the year.

Convention Date: February 15-17, 2023
Location: Raising Cane's Baton Rouge River Center Baton Rouge, LA

The Rewards are Immeasurable.

Even for students as accomplished as our members are, paying for college likely will be challenging. However, Beta could be a huge help. The National Beta Scholarship Program awards over $300,000 in scholarships to outstanding Beta members in their 12th grade year. Over 250 scholarships are awarded each year, ranging in value from $1,000 to $20,000. Incredibly, since 1991, Beta has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships.
