TEACHER
¡Hola! Me llamo Señorita Jackson. This is my ninth year teaching Spanish 1 at DeRidder High School. However, I have also previously taught Spanish levels 1-3 at another school. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in English, as well as a minor in Spanish, from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). I also completed my 30+ add-on certification for Spanish. Additionally, I received my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from McNeese State University.
After graduating from ULM, I spent a summer abroad studying in Mérida, México (in the Yucatán Peninsula). I lived with a Mexican host family and went to school for several weeks. It was an experience that greatly and positively impacted my life forever. I firmly believe that languages open up an entirely new world, and that everyone (if they are able) should attempt their hand at learning a new language. And with Spanish becoming increasingly more popular (especially in the United States), my hope is that whenever a student leaves my class they do so with a greater understanding and appreciation for the Spanish language and its culture.
I am also the sponsor for the Spanish Club here at DeRidder High.
